Robocall Mitigation

What is Robocall Mitigation?

The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) has released several orders for the TRACED Act which now requires all service providers to file certifications and robocall mitigation plans to the Robocall Mitigation Database (RMD). These measures are to ensure all service providers are monitoring all outbound calls to prevent robocalls from originating from their networks. The deadline was February 26, 2024. ClearIP provides a simple and inexpensive robocall mitigation solution for outbound calls to both SIP and TDM networks. ClearIP monitors all outbound calls and alerts the network operator when suspicious calling numbers are identified in a simple summary report. Reporting tools in ClearIP enable easy investigation and analysis of suspicious calls.

How does ClearIP Perform Robocall Mitigation?

The SIP INVITE received by ClearIP is analyzed for robocall mitigation. In this use case, the call is not blocked and ClearIP returns a No Fraud Detected Response Code (SIP 404 or 503) to the SBC which should be configured to route advance to the next route in its local routing table. If robocall mitigation indicates the calling number has been used for spam calls on the public telephone network, the call will not be blocked. The call will be logged for further analysis. If the calling number has been mis-labeled as spam by third party call analytics engines, TransNexus can assist with restoring the calling number’s reputation and prevent the calling number from being mislabeled as spam by other service providers.

Certify in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database

In addition to implementing robocall mitigation, service providers are required to file a certification in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database and upload a copy of their robocall mitigation plan. The Robocall Mitigation Database can be accessed at https://fccprod.servicenowservices.com/rmd?id=rmd_welcome

TransNexus can provide a robocall mitigation plan template that describes ClearIP’s robocall mitigation services. This template can be used to file the certification with the FCC. To request a copy of this template, please open a support ticket at https://tickets.transnexus.com/.
