ClearIP can be used to create blacklist rules for specific calling or called Service Provider ID (SPID). In the United States, this value would map to the Operating Company Number (OCN).
The ClearIP SPID refers to the porting-corrected SPID or OCN. If the service provider ports in a new number, then the ClearIP SPID includes the service provider’s original numbers and the newly ported in number. ClearIP updates its NPAC data once every 24 hours.
Blacklist Called SPID
ClearIP can be used to blacklist calls to numbers owned by specific SPIDs to prevent toll fraud to high-risk domestic destinations.
Called SPID | Action | Comment | SBC | Service Provider | Group | User | Calling Country | Calling Number |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1234 | Blacklist | Terrible Wireless | ||||||
5678 | Blacklist | Not Trustworthy Telecom |
In the above example, blacklist rules were created to block all calls going to Terrible Wireless in New York with SPID 1234 and calls going to Not Trustworthy Telecom in South Dakota with SPID 5678.
The Called SPID for a specific Called Number can be viewed in the SIP Messages page under the Analytics dropdown menu. Click on the Columns button on right, search for the Called SPID column and check it off to view the Called SPID column on this page. The Called SPID column will show the porting-corrected SPID or OCN of every called number. This Called SPID value is what should be entered into the SPID blacklist rules. The Called Company Name column can also be selected to see the registered company name associated with the Called SPID.
Blacklist Calling SPID
ClearIP can also be used to block the SPID of the calling number in the Whitelist/Blacklist Calling SPIDs page. If ClearIP processes both inbound and outbound calls, then this rule can be restricted to only apply to inbound calls if the appropriate Service Provider or Operator value is selected.
If the service provider owns phone numbers that are registered with their SPID or OCN, this rule can also prevent subscribers from receiving incoming calls from outside the network, where the calling number is spoofed to look like it’s coming from within the network.
The Calling SPID field can be viewed in the SIP Messages page for each calling number. This Calling SPID value must match any relevant Calling SPID blacklist rule.
